Update: Castlegate sent the following pics of DJ's new foal, Pilsner (aka "Buddy") -- both very cute names!
I have been a big fan of DJ TV lately. For all those who haven't heard of DJ TV, it's the live webcam that Castlegate was using to keep an eye on her pregnant mare DJ.
I have been peeking in on DJ TV each evening for a minute or two to see how she looked. It is much more compelling than any of the reality shows that I can think of (although I do have a soft spot for American Idol this year!?). In any case, last night I thought that DJ really looked ready. Apparently, she was!
Congrats to Castlegate and DJ! Hopefully, she'll send us a picture soon to post.
Here's Castlegate's most recent blog post about it: http://amateurdressage.com/component/option,com_mamblog/task,show/action,view/id,62/Itemid,30/

Cynthia Payne and Cynthia Payne Dressage hosted Bert van Rutten for a two-day clinic at South Lake Farm in Huntersville this weekend. Bert van Rutten was the Chef d'Equipe for the 2004 Dutch Olympic Dressage Team. He is a master of the Grand Prix and has made numerable KWPN stallions. Both he and his father rode for the Dutch Olympic team.
I audited on Sunday and the weather was great, just a little chilly because of the wind. I enjoyed watching all the riders and will try to add my notes to my blog later this week. In the meantime, I'll post these pictures. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take pictures of all the rides because my camera battery died.

Hats off to all the riders this weekend who braved the rain and cold and wind!
I only made it out to watch the show on Sunday. The arenas looked
like they held up great considering all the rain we got on Saturday.
However, I don't think the temperature ever even approached the
upper-60s like the weather forecast called for.

I just read on the World Cup Las Vegas web site that the 2009 WC will be held in Las Vegas again!
Yay! I have attended both the previous dressage World Cup events held in Las Vegas and both were absolutely amazing! For someone like me who rarely travels more than 2 hours to attend or watch a show, it was incredible to see the top dressage riders in the world compete. Not to mention the fantastic vendor selection. Does anyone remember the pink custom tall boots with bling?! My horse would have a heart attack if I tried to wear those, but I did like them ;-)
I already know that I'll be attending this one. With the first WC, it seemed like such an extravagence to consider going. However, it was reasonable for a nice family vacation. My hubby came along and we stayed at a modest hotel close to the venue and with a shuttle to the Strip. It was convenient and so much fun! The city was nicer, cleaner, and friendlier than I imagined it would be (maybe I was thinking of some of the old gangster movies?).
Husbands and non-horsey significant others that I talked to all reported having a great time. There was so much to do in addition to the show that everyone in our group went home happy and asking "So, when's the next one?" Some of the things we did outside of spectating were: shopping!, eating out, shows like Cirque du Soleil , trying our luck in the casinos, golfing, and visiting the Hoover Dam.
WC 2009 -- here I come!
